Social Action and Social Justice
We have come to the conclusion that God intends for us to care for our neighbours (both believers and those who we come across in the course of our lives) and so we have embraced the Christian Advice Service (tCAS) as the means by which we will demonstrate love for others (www.tcas.life).
tCAS enables us to engage in meaningful action for those struggling with the such issues as: dealing with debt, facing eviction, problems at work (i.e., unfair dismissal, zero hours contracts), obtaining appropriate and necessary benefits, child maintenance disputes, domestic abuse (signposting as well as handling the consequences).
We ‘fight’ injustice where we have the competence, capacity and capability in order to uphold the rights of those who are being exploited (through the benefit system, coercive debt, eviction and other situations).
tCAS also enables us to share our faith and to demonstrate our trust in God through prayer. We try to provide a Faith Friend for those clients who want to have someone with a faith as a friend. Often this can lead to the person wanting to come on a ‘Start’ course.
Alongside tCAS we have ‘Creative Therapies’ which is there to provide respite and relief for those who are facing difficult times in their life and need some distraction and an opportunity to do something creative.
